software router

Windows Software Router Diagram
The NAT32 Windows Software Router
is a Microsoft® Windows application that gives all computers on your private LANs direct Internet access via one or more Internet connections. NAT32 runs only on the computer with the Internet connection(s) and acts as an enhanced IP Router for the other computers on your private networks. The computer running NAT32 retains totally unmodified Internet access, and all applications on that computer will continue to run as before. On your other computers, most of your networking applications will require no reconfiguration, they simply pass all Internet packets to the NAT32 router, which forwards them to the Internet.

NewThe NAT32 Windows Software Router now supports a Safe Mode (also known as the Host Transfer Mode) that reliably protects the Windows TCP/IP stack from all unsolicited Internet traffic. Tests done from the ShieldsUp site now report the NAT32 machine as being 100% invisible on the Internet.

The Host Transfer Mode also allows Windows applications running on the NAT32 machine to use multiple Internet connections simultaneously. This feature alone makes NAT32 one of the most powerful IP Routers available for any platform.

NAT32 is the only package of its kind to fully support multiple Internet connections, multiple private LANs and multiple private LAN gateways. It surpasses Microsoft® Internet Connection Sharing and XP SP2 Firewall in performance, flexibility and security and is well-suited for use in large networks with complex private LAN topologies.

NAT32 supports Connection Sharing of Modems, VPN Connections, OpenVPN Connections, 3G (UMTS) Mobile Adapters, ISDN Adapters, Ethernet Adapters, TAP-Win32 Adapters, DSL Modems, DSL Routers, Satellite Adapters and Cable Modems. Each of your private computers is configured to use the NAT32 Router's unique private IP address as its DNS Server and Default Gateway. NAT32's built-in DHCP Server can configure the private computers automatically if you set them to "Obtain an IP address automatically" in Control Panel, Network, TCP/IP Properties.

NAT32® is distributed as a combined version for the following 32-bit Windows platforms: 95/98/SE/ME/NT4/2000/XP/2003.

A Windows CE 5.0 version is under development.

NAT32 has integrated support for the External Link cFos Traffic Shaper and Firewall Version 3.0.

Use NAT32 and cFos to stream in video and audio without interruption, even when lengthy file transfers are in progress.

Windows Software Router Quick Dialog NAT32 has a new, simplified user interface called the Quick Dialog. Toolbar Icons let you select commonly needed features with a single mouse click. A list box displays the most important NAT32 Settings. To test and modify those settings, simply double-click the desired list box entry to access its configuration dialog box.

The details in the Quick Dialog are updated dynamically, giving you instant feedback if a connection goes down, a Name Server has failed or any other important settings have changed. A Progress Bar shows the current throughput for each Internet adapter NAT32 is using.

New NAT32 is the only package of its kind to offer a full-featured PPPoE Server for Windows 2000/XP/2003 platforms. This feature works in conjunction with the RASPPPoE driver and supports tracing and debugging of PPPoE traffic. In addition, you can use the PPPoE Server as a backup server to which your PPPoE Router can connect if your ISP ever goes down. Simply configure NAT32 to share a DUN Connection and a RASPPPoE incoming connection. Then configure your router to connect to NAT32's RASPPPoE Server and enter the appropriate usercode and password. Your router will then have Internet access via NAT32 and its DUN Connection. Details...

New NAT32 is now compatible with Windows 2000 ICS and Windows XP SP2 ICS. Use ICS to share one Internet Connection and private LAN adapter, and use NAT32 to share another Internet Connection and private LAN adapter.

New NAT32 can now manage external DSL and Cable Modem Routers. You can limit traffic through your external router or even block some private machines completely.

New All versions of the NAT32 Windows Software Router fully support the Windows RAS Server and the Windows 98 DUN Server for modem connections, VPN connections and PPPoE connections. The RAS VPN Server lets you connect to your NAT32 machine safely and securely from anywhere on the Internet. If you are using 56K modems, run NAT32 on your Office machine and then dial in from home to access the Internet. No more busy tones, poor throughput or monthly ISP charges!

New On Windows 2000 and higher, the NAT32 Windows Software Router fully supports TAP-Win32 Adapters, CoLinux and OpenVPN Connections.
